On September 19 - 21, 2019, the 2nd Portuguese Conference on Marine Waste and Microplastics took place in Setúbal, It was organized by «Associação Portuguesa do Lixo Marinho» in partnership with the «Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia», the «MARE – Centro de Ciências do Mar e do Ambiente» and the Municipality of Setúbal. The conference focused mainly on the issue / solution of microplastics and the reduction of marine litter, with inputs from various stakeholders who have integrated panels on policy and awareness raising, the economy and society, and research and development of innovative solutions.
At the end of the 19th September, there was an Alga4Food Project dissemination session which involved the tasting of seaweed snacks, namely “Caldo Verde” with wakame (Undaria pinnatifida), focaccia garnished with cherry tomatoes and "slender wart weed" (Gracilaria gracilis), apple chutney rice raviolis with "nori" (Porphyra spp.) flakes and white chocolate truffles with "sea lettuce" (Ulva spp.).
