Recently, a mini-review about the potential use of algae as a beneficial resource of iodine, entitled «Edible Macroalgae: Beneficial Resource of Iodine», by J. Milinovic, P. Mata, M. Diniz, and J.P. Noronha, was published in the international scientific journal - American Journal of Biomedical Science & Research (DOI: 10.34297/AJBSR.2020.08.001288). The work resumes the worldwide deficiency in iodine and presents macroalgae as one of the most naturally available and abundant resources of iodine. The iodine content in macroalgae depends on species, and future research will explore its concentration in several dried and/ or processed macroalgae from the Portuguese coast. These results can be important to accomplish the recommended daily intake of iodin. Download here.
